You definitely need to get out there and interact with people to really learn. However, for someone who may not know how they will react or what they will say, I think reading up on the subject is a good starting point. rather than reading up on the topic, i’d suggest making friends.

if i don’t have any friends who are homosexual, then i can’t possibly hope to be able to identify with, relate to, or love them.
