I am going to start a new series of posts that I am going to call “CBG Real Life Stories.” Being a pastor on staff at Church by the Glades, I have the privilege of hearing some amazing stories from people who want to take their “next step” in Christ. From time to time, I will post some of those stories here!
First up…
About a month ago, I had a women come up to me after a service. She ask for prayer. We were in the midst of our series, Relationship Rehab, and Pastor David Hughes was talking about betrayal. Specifically, what to do if you had been betrayed.
I spent some time talking and praying with the women and her husband. Apparently, the husband had cheated on her with a co-worker. If that wasn’t hard enough to deal with, the husband stills works with the women. Needless to say, the women I spoke with still felt uncomfortable sending her husband to work everyday. She just couldn’t put her mind at ease. Can you blame her?
What’s amazing about this story is that they both have decided that their marriage and commitment to God is more important than the BIG mistake the husband made. They are trying to work through everything and trying to honor God as they do.
This woman’s commitment to her marriage and the husband’s willingness to confess his sin, ask for forgiveness and go through the painful process of trying to win back his wife’s trust is a HUGE encouragement to me. The easy thing to do for both of them in this situation would be to throw in the towel. They, instead, have choose to honor God and try to work through this situation.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lack anything” (James 1:2-4 – NIV).
Go God! What “next step” is God calling you to make?
